Early Life[]
Not much is known about Mann's early life. She was born in 1969 in London, United Kingdom. Her parents are director Michael Mann and Sharon Wells. She attended USC School of Cinema/Television’s Production Program.[1]
Career[]
In 2000, Mann started screenwriting professionally with the NYPD Blue episode "Tea and Sympathy". In 2001, she wrote/co-produced the television film Nancy Drew for ABC, and subsequently sold pilots to Imagine/Fox, DiNovi/Spelling/CW and Micheal Douglas/CBS. In 2001, she began writing for studios and developed features at Disney, New Line, WB and 20th.[1]
Mann began directing television with an episode of Robbery Homicide Division in 2003. In 2010, her Friday Night Lights episode "I Can't" received a Television Academy Honors Award for "Television with a Conscience". She has since directed episodes of The Blacklist (NBC), Shots Fired (FOX), Queen of the South (USA), Cloak and Dagger (Marvel), Sneaky Pete (Amazon), Power (Starz) and Shooter (USA Network).[1]
In 2001, Mann directed the independent feature Morning, which won several festival awards including Best Directorial Debut at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Grand Jury Award at the River Run International Film Festival and Gold Award for Best First Feature at the WorldFest Houston Film Festival.[1] In 2011, she directed the indie feature Texas Killing Fields, which was nominated for the Golden Lion at the 68th Venice International Film Festival.[1] In 2015, she wrote, directed and produced the indie feature Jackie & Ryan, which was nominated for the Orizzonti at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.[1]
In 2018, Mann directed an episode of the ABC series, A Million Little Things.[2]
